Aw, he sounded adorable! I previously used to volunteer at an animal sanctuary that catered for injured birds alongside strays and even a resident pony - some of the birds permanently housed there were so tame they literally had no fear of people (including a pair of geese, who unfortunately also harboured a supreme contempt for all people as well )
I have heard stories about geese and I have been careful to keep out of their way. Right now we have quite a few hummingbirds...and with the migration due any day now that number will rise dramatically..who are especially brave little creatures. With a bit of patience they can be persuaded to take their nectar from hand-held feeders...sometimes they will even perch on your finger to get their drinks. It is too bad you don't see them in Britain.
They are the best entertainment since Dr. Who:hummingbirds resemble Tinkerbelle, but they behave more like the 3 Stooges. Still, I have never seen one get injured in their antics and they do seem to have a good time. I haven't seen a sea gull in years, so they seem exotic to me.
